The trip from Monarch Lake to Crater Lake is about 8mi one way; including some elevation gain. It's a classic cirque location. So leave Your tele lens at home and bring Your best wide angle.
Lone Eagle Peak is part of the cirque and best seen from nearby Mirror Lake.
